What the temple in Jerusalem was to those under the Abrahamic covenant, so the heart - inner man, soul and more specifically the spirit - is to those under the new covenant of the body and blood of Jesus Christ: (1) 12:5, the place God makes His name to dwell, a holy place and meeting place, John 4:23, 14:23; Ephesians 1:13-14, (2) 12:11, the place God makes His name abide, where the character of Christ is formed and reflected, Galatians 4:19, 5:22-23, (3) 12:18, the place we receive, recognize, and rejoice over all God has given us, a depository of spiritual and heavenly communiques, 2 Peter 1:1-5, (4) 12:21, the place to exercise gratitude in enjoying and expressing all God has provided, gratitude 1 Thessalonians 5:18, (glory) 1 Corinthians 10:31, humility James 4:6, within the boundary of His Word Colossians 3:16; 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Psalm 119:9-16, (5) 12:26, the place reserved for holiness (clean) and offerings (service of self and giftings) to the LORD from a motive of love toward God, Mark 12:28-30; Romans 12:1; Acts 13:22 (example).
